Tim, Chris and Ted @ JPaulz, Charleston, SC, Songwriter Nite
Hey folks,
Tim will be at J’Paulz this Tuesday night from 9-11pm playing an all original show with 2 other excellent songwriters, Chris Dodson and Ted Mckee. They will each take turns playing their own original songs and backing each other up on them.
Chris was the guitarist for the now defunct Unkle Funkle, a funky local Charleston band that played around for years. Chris and Tim have been working on an acoustic duo lately and are planning on playing out in the area in the near future. Ted is a local player that has been playing around for a long time and has the talent to show for it.
Come out for this if you can, this is a great opportunity for guys like them to showcase the songs they wrote. Nothing wrong with the covers but they really like to express themselves through their own songs when they get a chance.

REED WADDLE!
Check out where Reed will be this coming month, he will be opening with Hall & Oates… don’t miss him and check out his website for more details!
Reed Waddle here, hoping that this change of seasons is a welcomed one. I hope the pollen isn’t bothering you! Despite allergy issues, I’ve got some good things cooking.
First and foremost, I want to thank all of you that came out to the Celebration of Taylor last week. It was truly one of the great nights of my life celebrating Taylor’s life with his family and community. The All American Rejects were truly gracious, playing for thousands for free and opening for them was both and honor and a treat.
It’s hard to top evenings like that, but as they say, when one wave crashes another one begins. A few days ago, I got an email from my buddy John Oates. He invited me to open up for his legendary band Hall and Oates! The concert will be at the Pensacola Civic Center next Sunday April 5Th. I hope that some of you can make it out. It’s been a long time since Hall and Oates has toured and made it to Northwest Florida, so get your tickets now! With over 60 million albums sold, it should be a real treat. I’m so excited for this opportunity.
Please visit www.hallandoates.com for more details.
I’ll also be hitting the road in April, with stops in Louisville, KY, Atlanta, Nashville, New York City, and Boston. Please visit my website www.reedwaddle.com for tour dates and local gigs. I thank you all for your love and support. I hope to see some of you very soon!!
Sincerely,
RW

SXSW Time Again – Making the Most of Music Conferences
|
Its SXSW Time Again It happens every year in January: Artists are beginning to call and complain to me that South by Southwest (SXSW) didn’t select them for a showcase this year. But having a showcase is not the only reason to attend a music conference and I invite you to think differently about this. Over my 13 years of attending SXSW I’ve seen plenty of bands who did get a coveted showcase and not only did they not get signed, but also they did not meet any key players in the business or benefit their careers in any way by showcasing. Reasons for this included: They received awful showcase venues and times; they were busy loading and unloading gear, babysitting band members, or getting tanked at parties to make the journey worthwhile; or they opted for their measly $100 stipend instead of for the gold: the festival pass. Here’s my musician’s South by Southwest survival guide to get you through one of the most massive and overwhelming conferences of the year. This guide is not just for SXSW; it’s also for any music conference out there! “Palmetto Acoustic was founded out of a love for music and a desire to create a community for independent artists and fans. The Palmetto Acoustic series is held at Muddy Waters Coffee Bar in Charleston, South Carolina. The venue is part beach cottage and part ski chalet with high beamed ceilings and hard wood floors creating a house concert vibe. Every other Thursday, Muddy Waters is transformed into a “listening room” where fans can enjoy original acoustic music while savoring the organic/fair trade coffees, beer and wine. These free concerts celebrate the poetic nature of the local, regional and national singer/songwriters as two artists each perform a 50 minute set of original music.”

Please Pray For This Community
Please pray for Dr. Winter’s family, our two brave members who were injured when they stopped the assailant, for the assailant himself and his family, and for our church members as they deal with this tragic loss.
In this day, where uncertainty seems to abound creating an environment in which people are vulnerable in doing things they might not do otherwise, one thing is certain, we, as human beings need a foundation upon which we can live our lives. We at First Baptist Maryville, along with other Christian believers, share this conviction: that foundation is God’s Word. In the pages of the Book we call the Bible, we find the pathway for peace, hope, and a quality of living life despite what circumstances we find ourselves in.
To those who believe in the power of prayer, we covet your prayers right now.

Arranged by our friend Kirk; his band The Semantics will be starting the evening off with their mixture of indie covers and own material followed by fellow four piece DirectionS. Next is our first of two charity-based gigs. On Sunday 22nd March, The Enigma wine bar in Rochester High St will play host to several bands all devoting their time to helping raise funds for Parklands Resource Centre in Gillingham. Medway Council has a dedicated Disabled Children’s Team that offers a range of flexible services to allow disabled children to remain living at home with their families. The team works in partnership with health and voluntary organisations to offer families appropriate services to meet their individual needs.
More information on the range of services available to parents and carers of disabled children from Parklands can be found by registering on Medway’s Positive Parenting Network (www.medwayppn.org). The centre also carries out individual work with children and families where social work input or respite provision is required. This will be a free to enter event with all donations being very welcome. Great quality food and drink will be available throughout the day.
