Mods May Day – 30th Anniversary Event
Saturday 2nd May, Bridgehouse 2, Bidder St Canning Town London E16 4ST
Mods Mayday 30th Anniversary. The original Mods Mayday was an all day event held at the Bridgehouse pub (sadly demolished to make for Canning Town Flyover) in 1979 and featured six mod revival bands of the time. These performances were recorded and a historic album was released. 30 years on and we’re still celebrating it!
Bands confirmed so far include The Deccas, Bermondsey Joyriders, The Loop, The Sons, The Dilemmas, Rocksmith and fellow Kent acts The Effectives and Springtide Cavalry. £10 for an all day ticket with music from 12pm to 3am

Angela Easterling Live Shows
Just had this message in from Angela Easterling…
Hope you are enjoying this beautiful Spring weather! Just wanted to let you know about some great shows I have coming up over the next couple of weeks. Also some wonderful news: I have been selected as a 2009 Kerrville New Folk Finalist!
This is one of the most prestigious competitions in the nation for Folk Music and has been around since before I was born. Past finalists include a bevy of successful artists like Lucinda Williams. I was allowed to submit 2 songs and I sent “BlackTop Road” and “Field of Sorrow”. My submission was one of 32 chosen out of over 800 entries. What makes this even nicer is these entries are “Judged Blindly” meaning the judges do not see any pictures or read any bios in making their decision. They do not even know the name of the artist they are listening to. So they are purely basing their decision on the strength of the song and the performance. Next month I will be going to TX to compete. Whether or not I win is less important than the honor of being chosen a finalist. http://www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com/newfolk.htm
I will be playing 2 shows in Savannah (April 24 & 25) at the Driftaway Cafe, in Asheville (April 30) at the French Broad Brewery, and in Greenville (May 1) at Coffee Underground. Believe it or not, Coffee Underground is where I played in public for the first time EVER back in the summer of 1995. I had started to learn how to play my first guitar and write my first few songs, and I think Coffee Underground had just opened, so they didn’t have anymore sense than to book an inexperienced kid who had no idea what she was doing. ha! They are way more selective now, so its an honor to get to return there.
See you soon!
