The Hollywood Music in Media Awards
![]()

Deuce Management & Promotion has recently collaborated with The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA); a red carpet event featuring live performances, award presentations, a VIP reception, and a banquet dinner. This prestigious awards event is NOW ACCEPTING MUSIC SUBMISSIONS FROM BANDS AND ARTISTS ALL AROUND THE WORLD!
The HMMA will be presented on Sunday 22 November 2009 at The Highlands in the world famous Kodak Theater complex in Hollywood , CA . There will be eight live performances during the awards show featuring nominees and special guest appearances. The event will also be shot and post-edited for a televised broadcast in 18 countries and US territories reaching an estimated 120 million households . Last year’s event was a staggering success attended by over 1300 artists, industry professionals, celebrities and music lovers such as Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Gilby Clarke (Guns n’ Roses), Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night) and Howard Hewett to name only a few.
HMMA recognizes music based on creative merit rather than artist popularity, airplay, sales or label affiliation. Using this approach, it offers talented artists from all over the world exposure and connectivity to the most influential professionals and organizations in the music industry and the "music licensing machine" of Hollywood .
The HMMA is now searching for nominees for nearly all music categories and, to perform at this year’s event. The HMMA will review submissions by committee and select nominees monthly, ensuring all submissions are evaluated in a timely manner. Nominees will then be selected and posted after each monthly session. July submissions are now being accepted and deadline is midnight on Friday 31 July 2009. Details on registering for the HMMA can be found by clicking on the banner below.
This is a fantastic opportunity to have your music listened to by some of the top music industry figures in the world with the chance of performing to them and millions of people too. Additionally, bands and artists registered with Deuce Management & Promotion will have links to their music forwarded directly to the selections committee and producers once your on-line music submissions are confirmed by the HMMA so you can be seen as an example of the high standard of bands and artists promoted by Deuce.
During the weekend of the HMM Awards, the Music in Media Interactive Conference (MIMICON) , will take place (Nov. 20 to 22) at the landmark Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. In conjunction with the HMMA, MIMICON is one of the most anticipated music events of the fall, designed to inform, educate, entertain and provide REAL opportunities for conference attendees. This three day affair will feature top industry luminaries focusing on what artists and entertainment professionals need to know to get their music in film, TV, video games, movie trailers, commercials and other forms of contemporary media. Artists, composers, producers and song-writers will be given the unique opportunity to pitch their work directly to the professionals that place and license music. MIMICON is now open for early-bird registration.
Artists and industry people will also receive HUGE discounts on tickets, conference registrations and hotel rooms for the events if referred to by Deuce before Friday 31 July 2009. Please email rob@deucemp.com for further information on this.

White Rhino Return To Palmetto Acoustic…
![]()
On this second anniversary of PAS, we’re treated to another appearance from White Rhino, a local band hailing from Charleston.
This is the first time their new bass player, John Kennedy, has performed with the band.
They played songs from their E.P ‘Home Again’ and many more besides, but alas, they didn’t bring any copies of ‘Home Again’ with them, as Aaron Levy explained, holding up a
batch of CD covers, with no CDs….
Still a great set nonetheless, and a plea to go buy the CD anyway!
David Berkeley Plays Muddy Waters

Sitting here in Muddy Waters Coffee Shop in West Ashley, listening to David Berkeley who hails from Atlanta, Georgia.
This evening is another in the excellent Palmetto Acoustic Series, which takes place every other Thursday.
We’re just about three songs into his set, and a most pleasant voice he has, with interesting lyrics.
He has got 4 CDs on sale at the current time, and is performing some from each of these albums in this fifty minute session.
His latest album “Strange Light” can be obtained by clicking on the album cover above.
David finished his set with three songs that he performed off-mic. As he has such a pleasing voice, which carries well, in this fairly small listening room, his vocal talents still amply filled the room.
Kev Rowe’s Summer News
Hope you’re having a good summer. I just wanted to let you know about some gigs I’ve got here in Charleston, SC and then about a small tour to NY in August….
First off, every Wednesday night I’m playing at this cool, little, Italian restaurant called Pane E Vino here in Charleston, SC. I play out on the patio and it is the perfect atmosphere for listening to acoustic music with a fine meal. I’m really enjoying it. I play from 7-10pm. It’s downtown, off of upper king street, at 17 Warren street. Come say hello.
Also, the second week of August, I’ll be coming up to NY. I’ll be playing the Bellini Lounge in Mayville, the College Club at Chautauqua Institution, and the Universal Church of Love’s Bluegrass Festival in Connellsville, PA. And a few other dates might be added.
Overall, life is good. Still working on my current cd at Echo Mountain studios in Asheville, NC which I can’t wait to get to you at some point. And diving more into the music scene here in the low country (but still occasionally visiting my roots in the north). Hope to see you soon,
Kev
