News From The Deccas
Salutations Deccas fans and friends!
We trust February has been kind to you and bring you details of our forthcoming activities in the hope you will join us on our musical journeys!
First up on Friday 6th March and kicking the month off in true Deccas style we’ll be back at The Command House in Chatham. Arranged by our friend Kirk; his band The Semantics will be starting the evening off with their mixture of indie covers and own material followed by fellow four piece DirectionS. We’ll be taking the headline slot! Door price is a mere £3 so poke the credit crunch and get down, and get on down!!
Next is our first of two charity-based gigs. On Sunday 22nd March, The Enigma wine bar in Rochester High St will play host to several bands all devoting their time to helping raise funds for Parklands Resource Centre in Gillingham. Medway Council has a dedicated Disabled Children’s Team that offers a range of flexible services to allow disabled children to remain living at home with their families. The team works in partnership with health and voluntary organisations to offer families appropriate services to meet their individual needs.
More information on the range of services available to parents and carers of disabled children from Parklands can be found by registering on Medway’s Positive Parenting Network (www.medwayppn.org). The centre also carries out individual work with children and families where social work input or respite provision is required. This will be a free to enter event with all donations being very welcome. Great quality food and drink will be available throughout the day.
Our third gig of the month(Thursday 26th March) is at the legendary West Kent venue The Forum in Tunbridge Wells. This is part of a mini battle of the bands competition organised by JAM Foundation, set up in memory of Jake Alexander Moss, a young music fan tragically killed in a car crash. Initially set up to promote bands from the Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough areas word quickly spread and we managed to get a place in the competition. Two heats of five bands will sort the men frm the boys with the semi final to be held on 9th April and Grand Final on 23rd April, St Georges Day! Door price is £6 or you can get tickets for £5 by visiting www.jamfoundation.org.uk
In the midst of all this Kelly from Shooting Suzie Photography will be documenting our gigs and compiling our new press package. To view her work visit www.myspace.com/shootingsuzie
If you haven’t got a copy of our latest demo yet, come and ask us at a gig or reply with your postal address and we’ll get one to you.

The Deccas – UK Indie Band
Good evening Deccas fans!!
It’s only late January and already our schedule is getting busy with nine gigs in the bag up to July.
Our first gig of the year(and first gig in two months)was Saturday gone where we headlined the regular Mod revival night “In The City” at the Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden. The organizers and crowds were well happy with our set and I’m sure we’ll be back there again.
So with a few days between to recover we’re back up town again for our next couple of appearances and February looks like this:
Tuesday 3rd at the Hope and Anchor, Upper St, Islington. A Bugbear promotions night we’ll be supporting The Bovine Wives with Ian M Hale and Clarity Peak. This is our first appearance for the Bugbear team so we’re hoping for a decent crowd to ensure a return slot. This is a legendary venue too where acts such as Madness and U2 cut their teeth. Four bands, £6 OTD
Tuesday 17th at the Rhythm Factory, Whitechapel Road, E1. No firm details arranged for this one yet but you can be sure this quality venue pulls no punches when it comes to putting on nights of live music.
Wednesday 18th at The Barge, Layfield Rd, Gillingham. Possibly feeling a little fuzzy after the previous nights gig, we’ll be mellowing it out for you by doing our entire set(and possibly a cover or two) acoustically. Grab an ale and pull up a pew and let us do the rest. A young lad by the name of Luke Jackson will be setting the mood first. Free entry too for the thrifty among you.
And into March:
Friday 6th at The Command House, Dock Road, Chatham. We’ve played here plenty of times so we know you’ll love it too. The Deccas headline with support from our good friends The Semantics and DirectionS
