It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with you all. In part that’s due to the new season of LOST starting up. But primarily it’s because I’ve been focusing my musical energies on a brand new project. Katie Clarke, Stephanie Marshall, and I recently joined forces to form The Boxcar Lilies – a high-energy Americana trio with a passion for great songwriting and three part harmonies.

We’re headed into the studio this May with the gifted producer and engineer Dave Chalfant (Erin McKeown, Beth Amsel, The Nields, The Winterpills) to record our first CD together. We’ve got the songs written, arranged, and ready to go, but we need to raise additional money to record them all, and so I’m inviting you to participate in The Boxcar Lilies CD Presale.

Pre-order the CD and you’ll be among the first to receive it when it’s complete. There are a variety of packages to choose from, ranging from a single signed CD to a Boxcar Lilies gift pack, or free tickets to a show. There’s even a package that includes The Lilies taking your song request. Is it your heart’s desire to hear the Lilies cover Lady Gaga? Well there’s a package for you. (If it’s your heart’s desire to see the Lilies dressed like Lady Gaga, however, that will cost considerably more. But hey, make us an offer.)

To show our gratitude for all of you that help us to continue to make music, we’ll send you an early mp3 or two and keep you updated on our progress and all shipping is free.

You can also get updates by joining The Boxcar Lilies mailing list.

I haven’t retired from my solo music career, but in the near future I’ll be focusing more on The Boxcar Lilies. We have some shows coming up and are getting ready to add more for the summer. So please join The Lilies’ mailing list to keep up to date.

Okay stop reading this and get outside. It’s gorgeous and the sun is shining!

Hello it’s me.  It’s been awhile. There is something about January that makes me very very lazy. But I’m playing some shows in the very near future and unfortunately, I can’t do them from my living room couch.  Instead I’ll be visiting some fine establishments and I hope you can come visit them with me.

I’ve been spending more and more time with my gals – i.e. the new trio, The Boxcar Lilies.  Making music with others is what it’s all about.  You can catch us in Western Mass both this Saturday in Easthampton and a couple weeks from then in Turners Falls.

I’m really happy to be doing a solo gig opening for the fabulous folk trio Red Molly in Plymouth, MA.  Tickets are selling fast, so make sure to get them soon.   Details for all the shows are below.

If you want to keep closer tabs on The Boxcar Lilies – sign up for our mailing list atwww.boxcarlilies.com/contact.html.

Finally, I imagine we’re all thinking of the people of Haiti.  I researched some alternatives for donating to organizations who are on the ground and already helping and I thought I would share them.

Hello music lovers,

I’ve got some news to share and the deets on some upcoming shows.

The highlights….

THE BOXCAR LILIES
Well, we’ve been dating for a few months now, but Katie Clarke, Stephanie Marshall and I have decided to make it official. Over a few beers, a yummy plate of wings, and the sound of Pat and Tex LaMountain playing in the background, The Boxcar Lilies were born.  Yes it was a shotgun wedding.  We married our love for great songwriting and sweet harmonies and have been having a wonderful time putting together songs that we’ll be performing in Sunderland, MA and Robbinsville, NJ this month. Details below!

SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
I’m particularly looking forward to co-hosting a songwriting workshop and performance with award-winning songwriter Jim Colbert in Bellefonte, PA.  See you soon Jim!

Hope to see the rest of you soon too.
Jenny

PS – A big thanks to all of you that voted in the Mountain Stage NewSong People’s Choice contest.  Alas, I did not win, but I’m grateful nonetheless because of all of you!

Well I just got back from a mud-soaked fab time at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.  Thanks to Jim Henry, Katie Clarke, and Stephanie Marshall, who helped make my Emerging Artist showcase set a total blast.  I posted some pics on my Facebook music page here.

It’s my last Greenfield Energy Park gig for the season (sniff) on Thursday Aug 13th.  Bring a picnic dinner and come hear the sweet summer harmonies I’ll be making with Katie Clarke and Stephanie Marshall.  nce…

Hazily and lazily yours,
Jenny

Alrighty, here’s the latest:
Got some time to kill today?   I’m in the semi-finals of the Bluegrass Channel at OURSTAGE.COM – If you happen to be an OURSTAGE member, you have until midnight tonight to vote and help get me into the finals.  I’m too old for American Idol and I can’t dance, so this is my only chance for fame and fortune.  Thanks.
I was selected to perform at the FALCON RIDGE/GRASSY HILL EMERGING ARTIST SHOWCASE at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival on July 24th. Falcon Ridge is a fantastic festival and I’m just giddy about being up on that stage with 23 other amazing emerging artists (not at the same time).  Festival headliners include Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea, Cliff Eberhardt, and many more.  Details on tickets can be found here.
My unrecorded song "Lookout Ledge" received an honorable mention in the AMERICAN SONGWRITER Lyrics Contest this month.  I’ll be making a home demo of that tune soon and will let you know when I post it.
In addition to a couple local gigs this month, I’ll be at the VANILLA BEAN CAFE in Pomfret, CT – guest hosting for Lisa Martin’s Songwriter Sessions.  I just finished a song for it yesterday based on this month’s theme (chosen by last month’s audience) "My Younger Years."  That wasn’t too painful.  Heh.
Details for all shows are below.

That’s it for now. Be good. Or not. Your choice.

The next show is on Thursday, November 6th at 7:30pm.  Jenny Goodspeed from Massachusetts and Kyle Swartzwelder from Delaware will be performing that evening.  If you’re in the Charleston SC area, drop in, you’ll not be disappointed!  To listen to their tunes, check out www.myspace.com/palmettoacoustic.
Doors are open pre-show for drinks (coffee, beer and wine) and snacks (panini sandwiches, muffins, brownies), so please come early to get a seat and for conversation.
FYI: Starting in January, Muddy Waters will be hosting monthly art openings, showcasing individual visual artists.  These special nights will be celebrating the featured artist of the month with opportunity to meet the represented artist and for pre-sales of current installation.  Another great event at Muddy Waters, please come out and support the arts!
