It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with you all. In part that’s due to the new season of LOST starting up. But primarily it’s because I’ve been focusing my musical energies on a brand new project. Katie Clarke, Stephanie Marshall, and I recently joined forces to form The Boxcar Lilies – a high-energy Americana trio with a passion for great songwriting and three part harmonies.
We’re headed into the studio this May with the gifted producer and engineer Dave Chalfant (Erin McKeown, Beth Amsel, The Nields, The Winterpills) to record our first CD together. We’ve got the songs written, arranged, and ready to go, but we need to raise additional money to record them all, and so I’m inviting you to participate in The Boxcar Lilies CD Presale.
Pre-order the CD and you’ll be among the first to receive it when it’s complete. There are a variety of packages to choose from, ranging from a single signed CD to a Boxcar Lilies gift pack, or free tickets to a show. There’s even a package that includes The Lilies taking your song request. Is it your heart’s desire to hear the Lilies cover Lady Gaga? Well there’s a package for you. (If it’s your heart’s desire to see the Lilies dressed like Lady Gaga, however, that will cost considerably more. But hey, make us an offer.)
To show our gratitude for all of you that help us to continue to make music, we’ll send you an early mp3 or two and keep you updated on our progress and all shipping is free.
You can also get updates by joining The Boxcar Lilies mailing list.
I haven’t retired from my solo music career, but in the near future I’ll be focusing more on The Boxcar Lilies. We have some shows coming up and are getting ready to add more for the summer. So please join The Lilies’ mailing list to keep up to date.

We hope you survived the Christmas period and are looking to burn off those excess calories by coming along to one or more of the following gigs.
We’re at the start of what’s already looking like a fairly busy year kicking off with a live interview/studio appearance on the legendary Radio Caroline! We’ll be on Ray Copeland’s show from around 10pm on Monday 11th January playing a couple of songs live and chatting about the band. We also get the chance to do a “Desert Island Discs” and pick a track each. Go to www.radiocaroline.co.uk for listening info.
Saturday 16th January sees us return to Tommy Flynn’s on Camden High Street (nearest tube Mornington Crescent) for a drop of the black stuff and (we believe) four bands. Only a couple of quid to get in.
Friday 29th January we take a trip to the south east coast of Kent. The Deal Welfare Club and Social Institute is the venue and for just £1 (one single pound?!) you can catch us open the three band night that includes Autumn Few (formed from the ashes of the excellent Springtide Cavalry) and indie-ska quartet The Flack. We’re reliably informed that Deal/Dover area has a burgeoning live music scene so we’re expecting a full house and the bar will be reasonably priced too. Come on, first payday after christmas, let’s have it!
Saturday 30th January and if you can’t haul your asses down to Deal or, like us, fancy a second night of it we’ll be back at where we played our very first gig; Tap n Tin, Railway Street, Chatham. The Suburban Kings team always present a line up of great bands and this night will be no exception: The Deccas, Archie Wah Wah, The Lovedays and new act The Facades. There is also “secret unannounced guests”…. Entry will be around a fiver, you will not be disappointed.
That’s for starters, we have more gigs booked through to May(details will follow) so we hope to catch up with you soon.
All the best for 2010 folks!!
